More specifically, it’s an independent audit to test how well we protect client data. It reviews our internal controls, policies and processes with the following criteria:

More About SOC Compliance
SOC stands for System and Organization Controls. Per the AICPA, it’s the report certified public accountants use to evaluate businesses.
There are multiple SOC reports for service organizations:
- SOC 1 Type 1
- SOC 1 Type 2
- SOC 2 Type 1
- SOC 2 Type 2
- SOC 3
Compliance requirements don’t change between types. For example SOC 2 Type 2 isn’t better than SOC 2 Type 1. The difference between these two is testing time.
SOC 2 Type 1 tests during a certain point in time. SOC 2 Type 2 happens over a period of months.

SOC 2 Type 1 compliance is voluntary. Businesses like iVenture don’t have to do it, but we think it’s important.
